Volunteering

We depend on our dedicated volunteers to share Hawaiʻi’s civic story.

Volunteers are part of the Judiciary ʻohana, drawn together by their interest in educating visitors about Hawaiʻi’s unique legal culture and history.

Available Volunteer Positions:

Social Media Assistant – Help expand the Judiciary History Center’s online reach and engagement by designing and publishing content on our social media platforms. Topics include upcoming events, historical research, collection spotlights, and current legal events.
Collections Assistant – Support the Curator’s ongoing collection preservation and legal research projects. Activities include cataloging, scanning, researching, and writing about our judicial heritage collections, to improve public awareness and access to our historic resources.

Greeter – Greeters serve a hospitality function by welcoming and orienting visitors to Aliiolani Hale, and providing security for exhibits.

Docent – Provide in-depth learning experiences for visitors by sharing Hawaii’s unique history, leading public tours and assisting with school group tours. Training is required.

Generous with their time and energy, the volunteers help present the Center to the public by serving as greeters, guides, researchers, and collection assistants. Volunteers may also help with special events. Enthusiasm, commitment, and desire to learn and share with others are the main requirements for these positions.
