The King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center invites middle and high school teachers to attend a free teacher institute in Monterey, California from June 21–26, 2026. The workshop focuses on community engagement in public policy. You will learn strategies to help your students identify and track public policy issues in their communities, and how to affect change. Hawaiʻi teachers will work alongside teachers from California. Spots are limited so please register as soon as possible. Feel free to share this information with other teachers.
What: Project Citizen Teacher Workshop
Where: Monterey Bay, California
When: Sunday, June 21 – Saturday, June 26, 2026
Free: Free airfare and lodging, ground transportation in Monterey to and from Cal State Monterey Bay, breakfast and lunch (dinner stipends will be awarded upon completion of the workshop).
Free: Class sets of the curriculum, Project Citizen: Community Engagement in Public Policy
Stipend: $500 stipend following end of semester completion of workshop requirements.
