This panel discussion brings together five speakers with lived experience of incarceration, each successfully reintegrated back into community and assisting others to do the same with effective reentry strategies. Kimmy Takata (Reentry Advocate and Peer Support Leader) moderates the conversation, featuring Tricia Liupaono (Founder, My Sister’s Keeper), Matt Taufetee (Director, First LAP: Life After Prison), Nina Kealoha (Owner, Kon Kreations), and Dida Baza (Peer Leader, The Ruth House). They share their personal journeys—what they experienced while incarcerated, what reentry looked like for them, and opportunities for the State of Hawaiʻi to improve support for incarcerated individuals and their ʻohana. The panelists bring both honesty and solutions to the conversation.
